Rosa Louise McCauley Parks (1913-2005) after receiving the 1996 Presidential Medal of Freedom, Washington, D.C American activist in the civil rights movement best known for her pivotal role in the Montgomery bus boycott. Called "the first lady of civil rights" and "the mother of the freedom movement".
