The historical events in the years 1933-1945 have far-reaching consequences until this day. The Great Depression of 1929 accelerated the rise of the NSDAP in Germany and in January 1933 Adolf Hitler was appointed Chancellor of Germany. The Invasion of Poland in 1939 marks the beginning of the Second World War - a war that would extend far beyond the borders of Europe and end with the unconditional surrender of the Wehrmacht.
