Simon Wiesenthal (1908-2005), Austrian author and publicist as well as the leader of the Jewish documentary center in Vienna, Austria, is reading October 16, 1972 in Zurich, Switzerland from his book “Sails of Hope”, in which he advocates the thesis that sailor and discoverer Christopher Columbus was jewish and the discovery of America was only possible through strong jewish support. Wiesenthal was born 1908 in Buczacz (former Austro-Hungary, currently belonging to the Ukraine). He was working as an architect until 1941 when he was arrested by Germans. He was imprisoned on over 13 different concentration camps. After the war, he founded the Jewish Documentation Center (documentary center) in Vienna, Austria. As “Nazi-Hunter” he was part of over 1100 cases of detections of Nazi- (National Socialis) Crimes. He died on September 20, 2005 in Vienna, Austria.
