St Martin's Cathedral, Mainz; Mainzer Dom, Martinsdom or, officially, Der Hohe Dom zu Mainz; predominantly Romanesque; Saint Martin of Tours. Johannes Gensfleisch, called Gutenberg (1398-1468), born and died in Mainz, was a German goldsmith and printer who was the first European to use movable type printing - statue by Bertel Thorvaldsen (1770-1844) 1837
