1. What inspires you to create your artwork?

Spending time in the forest is where everything begins for me. It’s the way light filters through leaves or how the mist softens the woodland. My work is about slowing down enough to notice those fleeting, often overlooked moments and trying to capture them in a way that makes others feel the same sense of wonder.

2. Does your practice respond to any specific themes?

Nature is at the heart of everything I create. My images often explore stillness, seasonal change, and the emotional pull of certain landscapes. I’m also drawn to themes of preservation, using photography as a way to highlight the value of wild spaces and the importance of protecting them.

3. What mediums do you use to create your artwork?

Photography is my main medium, mostly digital, using tools like the Sony A7IV and a range of lenses to capture fine detail and depth. I also work with printmaking to bring images into the physical world, and occasionally use short-form video to add movement and sound to the story.

4. Who are your biggest artistic influences?

My influences are a mix of landscape photographers like Neil Burnell and painters like Ivan Shishkin, whose attention to natural detail feels timeless. I also draw a lot of inspiration from fantasy worlds such as The Lord of the Rings and The Elder Scrolls: Morrowind — places rich in atmosphere, mystery, and storytelling. That blend of reality and imagined landscapes deeply shapes how I see and frame the world.

5. How do you find new inspiration?

I keep going back to the places I know well, the New Forest, Dartmoor, Scotland. The light, weather, and seasons are always shifting, so there’s always something new to discover. I also set myself small challenges, like focusing on one colour, texture, or species, which forces me to see familiar landscapes in new ways.
