'Woman and Child in Ladderback Chair' by Henry Moore (1898-1986), 1952. Bronze maquette of a mother and child on a rectangular plate on which stands a single formed high ladderbacked chair on which the mother is seated with small feet planted in front of her. She and the baby are essential primitive bodies with small abstract heads, the mother has a long spine with front breastplate pierced by a hole, elongated arms extended to the babies body which also sits upright facing her on her lap with legs drawn up on the long thighs of the mother, covered with a skirt form that covers the knees and straight legs to calf length.
