It's the Law: Corruption in Court. Prisoners could expect no mercy from the dreaded Court of Star Chamber, established in 1487 by Henry VII who used it to bring powerful nobles under control. Under Charles I it became notorious for the ruthless penalties it imposed. Original artwork from Look and Learn no. 1004 (6 June 1981).
