About Bridgeman Images
Bridgeman Images is a digital licensing company specialising in historical and fine art content. We represent stills and footage from the world’s leading museums and private collections to supply clients around the world in sectors including publishing, advertising, education and film/TV.
We are seeking a developer to help us support our backend systems and frontend code. Our backend systems are mainly written in PHP using the symfony framework and our frontend is both PHP and React. The role is full-time and fully remote with occasional attendance for social events or group collaboration in the London office.
About the role
The role will mainly involve supporting the business by solving support tickets provided by our support system Zendesk. As we have several complex systems you will not be expected to work on your own but will be working in partnership with the team of 6 other developers, and in close collaboration with a Project Manager. The role will improve the performance and reliability of the e-commerce website and the backend systems that support the business.
The role will also include testing new releases before they are deployed to the production environment. There is a good opportunity for growth within the role and to contribute to the development of new systems.
Responsibilities
- Respond in a timely manner to user bug requests, document solutions, provide on-going support and bug fixes for our existing applications including our websites and financial systems
- Test new releases fulfil the requirements of the business and are stable and reliable
- Create test scripts to ensure the code fulfils the requirements of the user stories
- May work with automated testing software
- Produce high-quality, well-documented code using best practices for maintainability, readability and reuse
- Partner and collaborate with all parts of the wider development team, including those remotely located, using flexible and holistic approaches to teamwork and problem-solving
Required Skills
Technical
- Good understanding of Javascript frameworks (ideally React and Next.js)
- Good understanding and experience with PHP, and PHP Frameworks (Symfony)
- Strong understanding on how to create MySQL queries
- Good knowledge of Javascript client-side scripting (AJAX, JSON, DOM manipulation)
- Knowledge of OOP/MVC development patterns
- Working with GIT is desirable
- Experience working in a TDD environment
Desired but not essential
- Experience working with testing software
Communication
- Experience working in a multi-functional team, alongside product managers, tech lead and devops is very desirable
- Good knowledge of a recognised project development process (e.g. Agile, Waterfall)
- Collaborative approach to development and working with business stakeholders
- Openness to new technology and new approaches
