Cover of Casabella, N. 564, January 1990, 20th Century, graphic, 31 x 28 cm
Whole artwork view. On a white background, light blue headline and below a picture and a table of contents, in black with red underlines; the photo, taken by Deidi von Schaewen, represents one of the models of Parish architecture actually exposed at the exhibition The Imaginary Metropolis. An Atlas of Paris (La metropole imaginaire. Un Atlas de Paris); the shot depicts a stretch of the Passy viaduct projected by Louis Biette and Camille Formigè, reproduced into a plastic model as fragment of the project Atlas of Paris, ongoing since 1983; two spans are half reproduced by the model, placed in a dark place and lightened by spotlights, which stresses the lightness of the many parallel arcs composing each lowered span, the elegance of the upper shelter, with the stylish design of the steel columns and the many chandeliers hanging from the ceiling; the platform on which the bridge section leans is painted in white as to give the resemblance of the marble and on top of it is even reproduced carefully the two statues of Jules-Felix Coutan, representing the allegories of Science and Labor.
