The Last Train

The Last Train: bronze demi-relief Holocaust plaque on the Ghetto Nuovo - Ghetto Novo, the Jewish centre of Venice, Canareggio district. By Arbit Blatas (Lithuanian sculptor, 1908–1999), 1993, honouring the 6 million and his parents, and depicting the Nazi deportation of Jews from the adjacent Jewish Rest Home, in train wagons, to the concentration camps in World War 2. Consecrated by the President of Italy on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Deportation. It stands permanently alongside the Monument of the Holocaust in the Historic Ghetto of Venice.
