Description
'Isabel' by Jacob Epstein (1880-1959), 1933. Bronze bust of a young woman named Isabel, that comprises of her upper torso in a loosely draped garment that reveals her naked form. The subject is Epstein's famous muse, Isabel Nichols, later Rawsthorne, who was also an artist (and friend and subject for Francis Bacon). Another bronze of Isabel by Epstein is at Harewood House, West Yorkshire.
