The Story of Cupid and Psyche - Venus, after Edward Coley Burne-Jones (engraved wooden block)

Engraved wooden block featuring a naked female wrapped in her own long hair. She is stood on the shoreline of a body of water surrounded by birds. Mountains rise in the background as well as a pagoda to the right. One of a series of proof impressions of four previously unpublished engravings. The female character is Venus from an illustration for 'The Story of Cupid and Psyche' written and engraved by William Morris. White powder has been rubbed into the block to show the difference between the printing lines and the areas that have been cut from thewood.
