Description
In this painting, Bendz offers an elaborate take on the nature of art. The foreground, with all the paraphernalia of an artist and the skull, a symbol of the ephemeral nature of existence, represents the material dimension of the world and of art. But on the other side of the mirror lies the realm of the imaginary and the eternal. The top of the mirror, divided into two parts, creates a slight shift, illustrating how art transforms the world into a whole other reality.
