(1919-79) Rowland Hill was a painter and draughtsman, born in Belfast. He went to work at fourteen years old but wishing to become an artist Hill studied in the evenings at Belfast Technical College and at Belfast College of Art, where his teachers included Fred Allen. At the age of sixteen he had three oils hung at the annual exhibition of the Ulster Academy of Arts. He later showed at the RHA in London and widely overseas and held many one-man exhibitions in Belfast. He lived in Jordanstown, Country Antrim.
