Dowling, Jane (b.1925)

b.1925 Jane Dowling conveys weather, space, light, movement and a sense of place. The real world is caught, but in stepping into it through her pictures we also enter a world of the imagination. The foundation of Dowling’s best work is rigorous drawing and finely honed colour values, both instilled over thirty years by Peter Greenham, at once her sternest critic and her keenest admirer.
