Walery (1863-1935) was a Polish-born photographer and artist who became famous for his portraits of celebrities and society figures in Paris during the Belle Époque. He began his career as a photographer in Warsaw before moving to Paris in 1886, where he established himself as a portraitist and fashion photographer. He worked for many of the leading fashion magazines of the day, including La Mode Pratique and La Vie Parisienne, and his images were widely reproduced in newspapers and magazines throughout Europe and America.
