Edouard Vuillard was a French painter and printmaker born in Cuiseaux, France in 1868. He studied at the Académie Julian in Paris and was a member of the Nabis, a group of artists who sought to create art that was more personal and expressive than the academic art of the time. Vuillard's early work was influenced by the Post-Impressionists, but he later developed his own style, characterized by flattened forms, decorative patterns, and a muted color palette.
