George Fennel Robson Durham, before 1828 Watercolour and gouache Height 20.7 x Width 38.5 cm TWCMS : C13215 Robson spent his early life in Durham, and continued to visit his home area after settling in London at the age of about seventeen. His watercolours often showed landscape views bathed in very bright sunlight, and were painted in a slightly stylised manner. This picture was reproduced in a group of engravings published as Picturesque Views of English Cities in 1828.
