Second City of the British Empire and celebrating its 700th anniversary, the painting shows existing buildings and some that were only planned when the painting was done. The famous Liver Building is depicted although it was not completed until 1911, other buildings include the Lutyens designed but never completed Anglican Cathedral. A Cunard liner moored at the Princes Stage is either the Mauretania or her ill-fat3ed sister ship Lusitania. Women carrying parasols, trams coming to and fro from Pier Head and the original clock of the White Star Line Office.
