Kelmscott Manor is a Grade I listed Tudor farmhouse adjacent to the River Thames built in 1570; the pelmet on Morris's early seventeenth century oak bed displays his poem 'For the bed at Kelmscott', composed in 1891 and embroidered by his daughter May Morris (1862-1938); the bed curtains were also embroidered by May and the bed cover by her sister Jane Morris and Mary De Morgan (nee Mary Evelyn Pickering) (1855-1919), 1895;
