FRANCO BAHAMONDE, Francisco (1892-1975). Spanish military man and politician. Dictator of Spain from 1939 to 1975. PRIMO DE RIVERA, Jose Antonio (1903-1936). Spanish lawyer, nobleman, politician, and founder of the Falange Espanola ('Spanish Phalanx'). Military accused of conspiracy and rebellion against the government of the Second Spanish Republic and sentenced to death. He got finally executed during the first months of the Spanish Civil War. At the end of the Civil War, the body was exhumed and carried on the shoulders from Alicante to El Escorial to honor him. Once the Basilica of the Valle de los Caidos was built, Francisco Franco ordered to bury the body there. Madrid citizens while milicians were walking throught Madrid streets with the remains of the founder of the Falange Jose Antonio Primo de Rivera on their shoulders. Photography. SPAIN.
