Dali lit le livre de Fleur Cowles « L'affaire Salvador Dali » (1959), alors qu'il est dans un train en provenance de Folkestone, après avoir voyagé depuis la France. Le livre de Cowles était une biographie autorisée de Dali. Avec une expression de choc étudiée sur son visage, Dali apprécie l'occasion de prendre une photo.
