Pocahontas at the Court of James I, play at Crystal Palace, Sydenham, 1911. Part 3, Scene 2, of a play; part of the Pageant of London. Pocahontas (1595-1617) was a Native American princess, daughter of Powhatan, king of the Powhatan tribe in Virginia. She travelled to London and was presented at King Jamess (1566-1625) court. She married an Englishman, John Rolfe, and bore a child before dying of smallpox on the return journey to America.
