Confederate troops boarding the USS Harriet Lane during the Second Battle of Galveston on 1 January, 1863. During American Civil War.Under the leadership of Major General John Magruder, Confederate forces on the CSS Bayou City and the tug, Neptune, were able to run USS Westfield aground and capture USS Harriet Lane, breaking the Union blockade for a number of days and bringing back the port and city of Galveston into Confederate hands for the rest of the war.
