The collection, featuring a premium t-shirt, long-sleeve shirt, and hoodie, showcases exclusive illustrations by Steadman. The designs reimagine Wrexham’s historic club logo and the iconic Welsh dragon through Steadman’s signature "Gonzo" lens, blending his chaotic, freestyle ink splats with the sharp, technical precision that has defined his career for over seven decades.

A Homecoming in Ink
Long before the global fame of his illustrations for Hunter S. Thompson’s Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Steadman’s artistic foundations were laid in Wrexham. As a teenager in 1952, Steadman took technical drawing classes at Wrexham Technical College, located directly next door to the football stadium, while completing a challenging apprenticeship at the de Havilland Aircraft Company.
The straight parallel lines and concentric circles he mastered in Wrexham would eventually become a staple of his drawing lexicon. The tag on the new apparel collection pays homage to this heritage, reading: “Before the fame of his illustration for Hunter S. Thompson’s 'Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas,' Ralph scored his distinctive style as a teenager while studying engineering at Wrexham.”

Art as a Vessel for Sport and Culture
The collaboration brings together Steadman’s lifelong connection to North Wales with the surging cultural momentum of Wrexham AFC. Though Steadman preferred leaning against the goalposts to playing the field during his school days, his connection to the region and the "Holy Trinity" of football culture remains a vibrant part of his personal history.

Ralph Steadman commented:
“The last place I thought I would see my artwork was on a football shirt. I am delighted that my dragons will inspire a new generation of fans to dream big and reach for their goals!”
Martin Hasselbring, Director of Partnerships and Innovation at Bridgeman Images, commented:
"We are absolutely delighted to bring together two iconic Welsh entities to celebrate culture and sport through art. This collection is a testament to art as a vessel for storytelling; it bridges Ralph’s technical beginnings in Wrexham with his status as a global visionary. Seeing the Welsh dragon reimagined by Ralph for his home team is a significant moment for both the arts and the sporting community."
