Image description

Francisco Pizarro González (c. 1471 or 1476 – 26 June 1541) was a Spanish conquistador who conquered the Inca Empire. Hernán Cortés de Monroy y Pizarro, 1st Marquis of the Valley of Oaxaca (1485–1547) was a Spanish Conquistador who led an expedition that caused the fall of the Aztec Empire and brought large portions of mainland Mexico under the rule of the King of Castile in the early 16th century. Illustration from the codex History of Tlaxcala ('Historia de Tlaxcala' or Lienzo Tlaxcala ) written by Diego Munoz Camargo in the years leading up to 1585. This manuscript highlights the religious, cultural, and military history of the Tlaxcaltec people, in particular focusing on the post-conquest aspects. Tlaxcala became the center of evangelization and governance after the Spanish conquest of the Aztec Empire.(Diego Munoz Camargo was half Spanish half native - interpreter for the Spanish particularly for the Franciscans)
