James Edwin McConnell (1903-95) was an American artist known for his paintings of landscapes and cityscapes. Born in Ohio, McConnell studied at the Cleveland School of Art and later at the Art Students League in New York City. He worked as a commercial artist in New York before moving to California in the 1930s. McConnell's paintings often depicted the natural beauty of California, including its beaches, mountains, and deserts. He was also known for his urban scenes, particularly of San Francisco and Los Angeles.
