Louis Seraphine, also known as Seraphine de Senlis, was a French painter born in 1864 in the town of Arsy. She worked as a shepherd and a factory worker before discovering her passion for painting. Seraphine was a self-taught artist who created vibrant and colorful works of art inspired by nature and her religious beliefs. She used unconventional materials such as cardboard, wood, and glass to create her paintings. Seraphine's work was discovered by the German art collector Wilhelm Uhde, who became her patron and helped her gain recognition in the art world.
