Frances Brooke, Lady Whitmore (d.1690)

The original of which is in the Royal Collection, circa 1665. A three-quarter-length portrait of the mother of Frances Whitmore who married Sir Richard Myddelton, 3rd Bt; daughter and co-heir , with her sister Lady Denham, of Sir William Brooke (nephew of Henry, 8th Lord Cobham of Cobham Hall, Kent. who was imprisoned in the Tower of London as a reputed co-conspirator with Sir Walter Raleigh, to put Lady Arbella Stuart on the throne, instead of James VI of Scotland!) She was married firstly, before 1668, to Sir Thomas Whitmore, KB, of Apley (1643-1682) [Picture No 35] to whom she bore Frances, Lady Myddelton [Picture No 22] Chirk Castle, Wrexham (Accredited Museum)
