Painted sculpted oval. Head and shoulders portrait, dressed in 17th century style with a brown jacket with slashed sleeves and a white cravat. His brown hair is worn loose. (inventory card). On the back is inscribed 'This portrait of himself by Sir Peter Lely was presented to him by the Earl of Ferrers in gratitude to the Earl as his Patron, and was purchased by me at the unfortunate dismantling of the House at Staunton Harold by the folly of some and rapiery of others in June 1834.
