Henri Eugene Augustin Le Sidaner was a French painter born in Port Louis, Mauritius in 1862. He studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris and became known for his impressionist style, often depicting gardens and landscapes in a dreamlike manner. Le Sidaner was also a skilled interior designer and created many of his own frames for his paintings. He exhibited his work at the Salon des Indépendants and the Salon d'Automne, and was awarded the Legion of Honor in 1932.
