The York Minster (known as The French pub), Soho, 14 September 1983, before the fire, rebuild and name change to The French House. Gaston Berlemont (centre with moustache) owner and landlord was born in the pub in 1914. The pub was popular with writers and artists eg. Brendan Behan, Dylan Thomas, Francis Bacon, Lucian Freud and others.
