Statue of Giordano Bruno in Rome - Bronze statue of Giordano Bruno (1889) by Ettore Ferrari (1845-1929), Campo dei Fiori, Rome. Giordano Bruno (1548-1600), Dominican monk, philosopher, victim of the Inquisition. On the basis of Copernicus's work, he shows philosophically the relevance of an infinite universe, people of countless worlds identical to ours. Accused of heresie, book to the Inquisition and torture, he was sentenced to death and burned alive, in Rome, 16 February 1600. The bronze monument to Giordano Bruno (1889) by Ettore Ferrari (1845-1929), Campo dei Fiori, Rome. Giordano Bruno (1548-1600) was an Italian Dominican friar, philosopher, mathematician and astronomer, who was found guilty of heresy and burnt by the Inquisition.
