George Hayter (1792-1871) was a British portrait painter who was born in London. He studied at the Royal Academy of Arts and became a successful portrait painter, painting many notable figures of his time, including Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. He was also known for his historical paintings, such as "The Trial of Queen Caroline" and "The House of Commons in Session." Hayter was appointed as the official portrait painter to the Queen in 1837 and was knighted in 1841.
