Oil painting on canvas, Lady Katherine Isabella Manners, Countess Jermyn (1809-1848) by Sir Francis Grant PRA (Kilgraston 1803 - Melton Mowbray 1878).1839. Full-length portrait of a woman, turned to the right, gazing at the spectator, standing in a landscape with distant horizon on the left, leaning with her left elbow on a stone pedestal, wearing a white dress with a pale mauve shawl round her shoulders, her black hair falling in ringlets on her shoulders. She was the third daughter of the 5th Duke of Rutland and Lady Elizabeth Howard, in 1830 she married Frederick William, Earl Jermyn (1800-1864), to whom she bore four sons and five daughters, only three of whom survived infancy. After her death, in childbirth, he succeeded as 2nd Marquess of Bristol, in 1859 but remained a wodower. Her eldest son, Frederick William John Hervey (1834-1907), became 3rd Marquess of Bristol.
