We are pleased to announce Bridgeman now represents the Schorr Collection, a privately held collection and one of the largest and most impressive of its kind of recent formation in the UK. It is a museé imaginaire rather than a permanent display, loaning many individual pieces to public institutions in the UK and abroad. With this mantra, the Schorr Collection ensures that it's most significant works are accessible to a global audience of scholarly and general interest.
David and Hannah Lewis have spent four decades carefully and painstakingly amassing one of the most important collections of Old Master and 19th-century paintings in the world, and one of the largest private collections in the United Kingdom. The collection now numbers more than 400 works, ranging from tender 15th century devotional images to 19th century French Impressionist landscapes.
Over half the collection is on long term loan to museums and public bodies in the UK and abroad, including many of Bridgeman's partner museums like the Phoenix Museum of Art ongoing exhibition:https://phxart.org/exhibition/selections-from-the-schorr-collection/
Bridgeman Images is honoured to have been chosen as the licensing partner of this unique collection of significant paintings.
