Francis Campbell Boileau Cadell was a Scottish painter born in Edinburgh in 1883. He studied at the Académie Julian in Paris and was influenced by the Fauvist movement. Cadell was a member of the Scottish Colourists, a group of artists who were known for their use of bold colors and expressive brushstrokes. He was particularly interested in capturing the effects of light and color in his paintings, often depicting scenes of Edinburgh and the Scottish coast. Cadell's work was exhibited widely in Scotland and England, and he was a member of the Royal Scottish Academy.
