View showing the laboratory complex of processing plants and storage sheds established in 1848 on Ridge Avenue near Schuylkill Falls (i.e., East Falls). In the lower corners are two vignettes depicting exterior views of the tartaric and citric acid department and the laboratory for fine chemicals at Ninth and Parrish Streets. In 1847, Powers & Weightman succeeded Farr & Kunzi (established in 1818), and became internationally renown for their manufacture of medicinal and other fine chemicals.
