Switzerland Music Arthur Honegger (b/w photo)

Portrait of the French-Swiss composer Arthur Honegger was directed in the year 1947, on the occasion of the cultural week of Radio Monteceneri, an orchestra at the studio of Radio Monteceneri, Switzerland. Honegger (1892 - 1955) was known for a work based on various stylistic devices. He was an important representative of the “Group de Six” established in 1920 in Paris, France. His international reputation was based on Honegger's symphonic composition “Pacific 231", which is a metaphore of a “vital” sense of life” of the technical age characterising a speed train locomotive. His scenic oratorios are excellent works of modern musical theatre.
