Turkish Prime Minister Adnan Menderes, Centre, and his Foreign Minister Fatin Ruestue Zorlu, behind, before departure at Zurich-Kloten airport, after the Cyprus Conference held on 11 February 1959 at the Grand Hotel Dolder in Zurich, Switzerland. At the conference in Zurich, partial contracts, agreements and declarations for the transition of the former British crown colony Cyprus to the independent Republic of Cyprus were debated. After further negotiations in London, Turkey, Greece, Great Britain and Cyprus sign the Zurich and London Agreements on 19 February 1959 in London, which regulate the constitutional issues of the State of Cyprus.
