Sylvia Beach (1887–1962) American bookseller at the iconic English-language bookshop Shakespeare and Company, rue de l'Odeon, Paris. Ernest Hemingway (1899-1961), American author and journalist. Most probably pictured after a severe injury he sustained in 1928 in his Parisian bathroom in which he pulled a sky light down onto his head thinking it was a lavatory chain. He was left with a scar on his forehead for the rest of his life.
