Bridgeman Images Announces its Annual 2022 Book Cover Awards

 

Now in its fifth year, Bridgeman Images is delighted to announce the 2022 edition of its annual book cover awards - celebrating the very best in North American literary design.

The first of the two award categories; Academic, focuses on educational print works across all niches, and the second category; Trade, covers any design which falls outside this. Two recipients, one for each category, will be awarded the prestigious title along with a cash reward of $250.

The deadline for submission is 15 December, 2022 and the shortlist will be announced 24 January, 2023 via our social media channels and website. The winners will be announced on 31 January, 2023. Applications must be submitted directly via email to press@bridgemanimages.com with the subject line, ‘Bridgeman Images Book Cover Application 2022’.          Last year’s winner for the Academic category, Kat Lynch, for her work on ‘Adventurer: The Life and Times of Giacomo Casanova’, written by Leo Damrosch, and published by Yale University Press, said, "Bridgeman has always been one of the first places I go to for imagery for book cover designs. Not only is their collection key for any academic or nonfiction titles, they have amazing contemporary paintings and illustrations for fiction. Most times I am submitting designs to clients, odds are one of them uses a Bridgeman image!"  Rib King: Poisonous plants. As well as the poisonous Black or Common Nightshade (Solanum nigrum) top left, and Woody Nightshade or Bittersweet (Solanum dulcarama) top right, there are the more dangerous Deadly Nightshade(Atropa belladonna) bottom left, which contains the alkaloids Atropine and Hyoscyamine, Thorn Apple (Datura stramonium) centre and Henbane (Hyoscyamus niger) right which contain Hyoscyamine.
