Stained Glass Angels

Bridgeman have exclusive access to the Painton Cowen archive with hundreds of high resolution images of stained glass from churches and cathedrals from all over Europe.

Notable are the beautiful details of angels playing early-Renaissance musical instruments from the north rose window of the Cathedral of St. Etienne, Sens , France.

The rose window is one of the most spectacular of all the creations of the Gothic era and in a world saturated with visual spectacle they have a spiritual and luminous quality that is remarkable in its power to dazzle and impress.
