Mythical Narrative

There are thousands of projects hoping to be successful on the popular crowdfunding site, Kickstarter, but few reach their goal. Aello Publishing's Janet Hinkel however, managed to raise almost $12,000 through her Kickstarter page to create her deck of Victorian-inspired Tarot Cards, the Tarot of Delphi, depicting fine art from the late 1830s to the early 1910s.

Seven Neoclassical Victorian and Edwardian images were licensed from the Bridgeman archive for the artwork on the cards, each of which has its own meaning within the deck.

“The Tarot of Delphi is like a mini-museum. You can wander through this captivating deck – exploring the imagery, absorbing the colors and light, envisioning the lives depicted – and imagine yourself within its mythic narrative.” - Janet Hinkel

“Know Thyself”

Tarot cards originate from 15th century northern Europe, and were used as a parlor game much like a regular deck of cards is today. From the late 18th century, Tarot also found use by mystics and occultists who believed in their foretelling the future or mapping of mental and spiritual pathways.

“As a tarot deck, these are your stories – the seeds for interpreting your past, your present, and your dreams for the future.” - Janet Hinkel
