Amber Lotus: Calendars with a Conscience

As we start out 2014 fresh with our own New Year's resolutions, Bridgeman thought it apt to give a shout-out to a publishing client whose environmental mission pays it forward.

Amber Lotus Publishing aims to inspire and uplift, and as a company they are committed to supporting Environmental Awareness, Earth Stewardship and Mindful Living through the pages of their calendars.

As one of the first calendar companies to use recycled paper and an early member of Green America, Amber Lotus has taken environmental responsibility to a new level. The publisher not only offsets their carbon footprint by planting trees and contributing funds to NativeEnergy, but they also use FSC certified paper and partner with Trees for the Future. As of January 2014, Amber Lotus Publishing has helped plant more than 330,000 trees and Trees for the Future has certified that they are now carbon negative as a company. For a print publisher, we at Bridgeman think that's something to cheer about.

Images from Bridgeman were sourced for several calendars in the Amber Lotus line, including Rumi: Heart of the Beloved and Messages from Your Angels.

The Persian mystic Jelaluddin Rumi (1207-1273) was a master of transcendent poetry. His illuminating words have inspired countless people throughout history, and today, thanks to the translations of American poet, Coleman Barks, Rumi’s poetry is more popular than ever. In their calendar, Amber Lotus combines miniatures from some of the most beloved Persian epic poems with Bark's translated verses.

In "Messages from Your Angels," Amber Lotus worked with best-selling author Doreen Virtue to create uplifting messages that will keep you centered and inspired. Virtue's words are set alongside angel imagery from throughout the history of art.

"Amber Lotus has been working with Bridgeman for a long time. Bridgeman is our go-to source for museum images, such as those used in our Rumi, Heart of the Beloved and Doreen Virtue's Messages from your Angels wall calendars. Our account manager, Wendy Zieger, is a wonderful partner who is always willing to help with whatever lame-brained thing I ask for. She's patiently chased down my image choices, sourcing the harder-to-find imagery from museums, and having things rescanned to my specifications. We are already looking forward to 2015 and beyond, and Bridgeman will be a part it."

Aleta Florentin, Production Manager for Amber Lotus Publishing
