The Courtauld Institute Gallery has one of the most important collections in Britain, including world-famous Old Master and Impressionist and Post Impressionist paintings, together with sculpture and applied arts. Its special atmosphere reflects its origins in a series of remarkable gifts and bequests by some of the leading collectors of the twentieth century, including Samuel Courtauld, Roger Fry, Lord Lee and Count Seilern.
The Courtauld Gallery and the Courtauld Shop are currently closed because of major refurbishments - an ambitious transformation has begun. Courtauld Connects is the name of the new project, which aims to make the Courtauld's collections and all areas of its building as accessible as possible to people from all over the world.
However, significant highlights from their collections can still be viewed around the world in a variety of exciting exhibitions.

In addition, more Courtauld works will be on display throughout the National Gallery’s permanent collection.

Precious and Rare: Islamic Metal Work from the Courtauld
27th September 2019 - 12th January 2020
From September The Courtauld will be embarking on a touring exhibition of remarkable pieces of Islamic metalwork dating from the 13th to the 16th centuries. The objects include some of the finest examples of this intricate craft from modern-day Iraq, Iran, Syria, Egypt and Turkey, and will travel to four venues across the UK.
Other exhibitions will also be running throughout 2019 and 2020 in other regions, including Tokyo. The Courtauld has established partnerships both nationally and internationally to provide unique opportunities for more audiences to engage with our collection than ever. All other works which are not loaned to partner organisations will be kept in secure storage until the Gallery reopens.
