NEW COLLEGE OXFORD

New College was founded in 1379 about 200 years after the university came into existence. It is one of the largest and best known of the Oxford Colleges, and undeniably one of the most beautiful. Over the centuries some reconstruction and much new building has taken place. The college possess a large collection of silver, pictures and other objects, most of which have been acquired through presentation at different times throughout the College’s history, and apart from those decorative objects these items are used by the College. Medieval and 18th to 19th century glass, and the panelling in the Hall can all be seen today. Since its foundation, New College has built up a considerable archive of valuable historical material.
