The Song of the World; originally entitled 'La Joie de Vivre', the Chant du Monde series constitutes the largest contemporary series of tapestries (80 m long and 4. 5 m high ) & was designed by Lurcat as a modern response to the medieval Apocalypse tapestries also in Angers at the Musee de la Tapisserie; commemorates the destruction of the Japanese Port of Hiroshima on 6th August 1945 by a nuclear bomb;
