More than 2,000 Lebanese demonstrators on Friday stormed the southern village of Arnoun, removing parts of the barbed wire Israel and its South Lebanon Army (SLA) militia allies had used to occupy it last week. Some of the demonstrators planned an all-night vigil in Arnoun, a tiny village which until Thursday of last week had been just outside the 15-km (nine-mile) deep strip of Lebanese territory which Israel controls just above its northern border. Lebanon condemned the move as an expansion of the so-called security zone, which Israel set up in 1985. JS/JDP
