A sculptor with his pupils (oil on canvas)

Six people, all half length, at a table. On the left a boy, profile right, holding a drawing of a crouching Venus inscribed '...warde si sta ben sta desegno M.A.'. Above him a lad in a flat black hat facing three-quarters right. Next the collector (or sculptor), full face, his head inclined to left, holding on the table, with both hands, a crouching Venus. He has a forked red beard, a flat black hat and black tunic with tapes or bows along the contour of his left shoulder. Next, right of centre, a youth, full front, his face slightly to right front. He has the same kind of hat, a brown jerkin and linen shirt. The mother (presumably) stands next, in dull brownish-rose, three-quarters left, holding an armless seated marble statuette in her left hand. Her right draws with a silver point on a sheet of paper on the table, inscribed 'le dificile storie'. Behind her, on extreme right, the head of a boy or girl, three-quarters left. In front, left of centre, a statuette of a reclining baby and the plaster or marble head of a child.
